Significant Events

 

  • 1960 - Martin & Mitchell
    The defection of these NSA employees to the Soviet Union prompted tighter personnel security measures.
  • 1961 - Specialist James Davis USA killed in combat in Vietnam.
    The first soldier killed was an advisor to a South Vietnamese Radio Research unit.
  • 1962 - Cuban Missile Crisis
    SIGINT played a critical role in defusing this event that had the world on edge.
