A National Security Agency cyber tool that allows computer systems to maintain a specific security posture is now publicly available on GitHub, a website for sharing source code - making it easier for other government organizations and private industry to adopt the tool to help fortify their networks against cyber threats.

NSA Releases First in Series of Software Products to Open Source Community

The National Security Agency announced today the public release of its new technology that automates data flows among multiple computer networks, even when data formats and protocols differ. The tool, called "Niagarafiles (Nifi)," could benefit the U.S. private sector in various ways. For example, commercial enterprises could use it to quickly control, manage, and analyze the flow of information from geographically dispersed sites - creating comprehensive situational awareness.

Rogers, U.S. Navy, Commander, U.S. Cyber Command/Director, National Security Agency/Chief, Central Security Service, paid tribute to Cryptologic Technician Technical Chief (CTTC) Christian M. Pike, U.S. Navy, and Staff Sgt. Richard A. Dickson, U.S. Air Force, at a memorial ceremony held here.

For the past three years, the National Security Agency (NSA) and US Government have been partnering with academia to create a research community dedicated to the Science of Security (SoS). More recently, NSA made a strong commitment to this venture by giving almost three hundred departments at universities the opportunity to receive funding to develop "Lablets" in partnership with private industry and NSA.
