NSA recognizes future cyber experts and mathematicians at Intel ISEF 2017

The National Security Agency Research Directorate (RD) recently awarded rising science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) stars for their projects in cyber security and mathematics research at the 2017 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles, CA. ISEF brings together thousands of students from around the world to showcase their innovative ideas to the STEM community.

The National Cryptologic Museum's two newest exhibits, 'Service and Sacrifice' and 'Real Time Regional Gateway,' include stories of some of the ultimate sacrifices made on the land, in the sea, and in the air by cryptologists in uniform, while also presenting actions the National Security Agency (NSA) has taken to protect the lives of front-line troops.

After a comprehensive review of mission needs, current technological constraints, United States person privacy interests, and certain difficulties in implementation, NSA has decided to stop some of its activities conducted under Section 702.

NSA will no longer collect certain internet communications that merely mention a foreign intelligence target. This information is referred to in the Intelligence Community as "about" communications in Section 702 "upstream" internet surveillance.
