FORT MEADE, Md., May 14, 2014 –
The heavy rain and high winds from the late April storm which pummeled the state of Maryland caused sporadic flooding in the Fort George G. Meade area. Almost five inches of rain accumulated within 72 hours damaging area homes and vehicles. Approximately 15 percent of the NSA Vehicle Fleet sustained some type of flood damage. Estimated repair or replacement costs for these vehicles totals about $1 million. Quick response to this flooding by the NSA workforce resulted in about 85 percent of the vehicles being saved.
