NSA to Launch ‘No Such Podcast,’ Pulling Back Curtain on Mission, Culture, People

FORT MEADE, Md. – The National Security Agency (NSA) is launching a podcast on September 5 to share the stories of the world’s best codemakers and codebreakers. For years, the very existence of NSA was classified, leading to the name “No Such Agency.” Now, as NSA has increased its public engagements in the past several years, “No Such Podcast” provides a new channel for people to learn more about one of the country’s most secretive agencies.

“NSA employees defend the nation every day, applying their expertise and work ethic to challenging, time-sensitive problems,” said Sara Siegle, NSA’s Chief of Strategic Communications. “Because it’s sensitive, we can’t talk about some of our work, but it’s time to start telling more stories that we can talk about, sharing more of that expertise, and highlighting these incredible public servants.”

The pilot episode of “No Such Podcast” features a declassified story of NSA’s signals intelligence (SIGINT) contributions to the U.S. government effort to take down Osama bin Laden, one of the architects of the September 11, 2001 attacks. This discussion will be followed by interviews with leaders on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, advanced research, and more.

No Such Podcast will launch on September 5 on all major podcast platforms and YouTube with two episodes focused on NSA’s two core missions, foreign signals intelligence and cybersecurity. The subsequent six episodes will run weekly though mid-October. For more information, please visit NSA.gov/Podcast.
